Most people think of every detail of our wedding from childhood. The hairstyle we will have, the dress we will wear and how our bouquet will look are just some things we think about. It can be exciting to finally plan your wedding, but without the right guidance, it can seem overwhelming.
Less Expensive
Typically, a wedding dress costs a lot of money. Look at dresses that aren’t actually classified as wedding dresses. They are usually much less expensive but they can be just as beautiful. You could get a bridesmaid’s dress, and it would be just a fraction of the cost. Even if you need the dress to be altered, it will probably be less expensive than buying a wedding dress.
Choose wedding decorations that reflect your personality and that of your partner. Your decorations should also help tell the story of your relationship with the person. Select a theme that represents the time that you have spent with each other.
Don’t overcrowd your wedding reception tables with excessive flowers. A lot of times, the flowers may be getting in the guests’ way. You also might want to take into consideration that some guests may be allergic to the pollen in the flowers. Think about putting non-scented candles out to create a romantic atmosphere.
You need to provide the DJ at your wedding with some songs you want to hear, but you also need to give him a list of all the songs you do not want to hear on that day. Perhaps this includes heavy rock, country music or a song that reminds you of an ex. This will help you to avoid discomfort on the big day.
When choosing a venue for the reception, be sure to account for enough space to dance. It’s very uncomfortable to have your guests crowded onto a dance floor that is too small. Move unneeded furniture out of the way so that everyone can dance comfortably.
“Destination” wedding guests will appreciate a thoughtful gift of vacation items awaiting them in their rooms. Put items in these baskets that they can use on their trip. These can be maps, disposable cameras, a pair of sunglasses, a hat and also a pamphlet detailing where it would be fun to visit. It would be nice to also include a guide to local restaurants to make it easy for them to eat.
Consider placing your colorful cake on a piece of fabric or tablecloth in a coordinating color. A pretty tablecloth made of textured fabric, velvet, shiny satin or a lace that matches the wedding dress are all nice choices.
Craigslist is a good outlet for locating local talent for your wedding. Before you hand over any money, both bride and groom should meet with them ahead of time, in person.
If the culture of the bride’s and groom’s family are very different, plan the wedding ceremony in the tradition of one side and follow the traditions of the other side at the reception. Both families will be happy when each person’s culture is taken into consideration.
If children are attending, make sure they are dressed comfortably. Use soft fabrics that have a somewhat loose fit for comfort. If they are going to have new shoes, you should let them wear them a few times before the ceremony to break them in. Paying attention to your children’s comfort can help them behave appropriately during the wedding. Uncomfortable children will be focused on fixing their discomfort and may fidget or engage in other distracting behavior. If your children are comfortable, however, they’ll be excited about participating in the wedding and behave appropriately.
If you are going to give a speech at a wedding you should always practice. If you don’t practice your speech beforehand, you run the risk of forgetting your speech, saying something you didn’t intend to say, or losing the audience.
You don’t have to let planning your wedding overwhelm you. You can plan the one of your dreams. You may even be able to enjoy the planning process once you know where to begin.
